Sprout Social, a social media management platform, announced that it had acquired Repustate, a sentiment analysis firm, to enhance the capabilities of Sprout Social’s social listening tool.
Repustate provides a no-code, all-in-one sentiment analysis platform which can provide insights on videos, social posts, surveys, and documents. The firm claims its platform can analyze 1,000 comments per second and is 12x faster than competing platforms while also being 50% more accurate. The firm’s solutions are used to analyze customer, employee, and patient experiences and are used by a variety of firms including Travel Media Group, Insight Global, and Boubyan Bank.
Sprout Social claimed that the acquisition will strengthen core functions of its social listening tool, such as aspect-based and industry sentiment analysis, as well as provide enhanced functionality for inbox messaging and social customer care. The firm expects the acquisition to yield results by 2024 and support its medium-term growth goals.
Analyst QuickTake: The latest acquisition is expected to further strengthen Sprout Social’s capabilities in the social commerce space where gauging consumer sentiment and monitoring the health of a brand's reputation is an integral component of appealing to Gen Z shoppers (see our Edge insight of “ Social Commerce: scrolling is the new retail therapy ” for further details).
