A partnership between Swedish Mycorena and Austrian Revo Foods , which was created to develop 3D-printed mycoprotein seafood, has received a grant of EUR 1.5 million (~USD 1.6 million) from Vinnova, the Austrian Research Promotion Agency, and Eurostars.
The grant money will be deployed toward expanding research into scaling of mycoprotein technology for seafood alternatives.
Analyst QuickTake: Both of these companies are front runners in their own aspects with significant market presence across multiple countries. While 3D printing meat and mycoprotein are individually unique, the combination of the two is likely to create a competitive advantage for both companies. This is also dependent on their ability to secure more funding for research and development, which is essential for developing a final product that will tick all the boxes.
