MSC Cruise Lines partners with Babylon Micro-Farms to build a hydroponic farm at sea

Partnerships

  • MSC Cruise Lines' Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) powered cruise ship MSC World Europa, which is currently docked in Doha, Qatar, has partnered with container farms producer Babylon Micro-Farms to build a hydroponic farm at sea.

  • Through this partnership, MSC World Europa will introduce a new restaurant concept called the Chef's Garden Kitchen, powered by Babylon Micro-Farms' hydroponic garden at sea, which will grow herbs, greens, and garnishes onboard. MSC World Europa claims this new restaurant will feature the world's first at-sea hydroponic micro-farm.

  • Niklas Ekstedt, a Michelin-starred chef, has collaborated with MSC Cruises to design the menu for the specialty restaurant Chef's Garden Kitchen, which will focus on natural ingredients.
