Sony denies reports of slashing the shipment forecasts of its upcoming PS VR2 headset by up to 50%, down from two million units to one million units.
The company had reportedly informed a supply partner to expect reduced display panel orders, allegedly stating that it only expected to sell 1.5 million units between April 2023 and March 2024.
Possible reasons for reduced pre-orders include waning global macroeconomics, the high price point of the PS VR 2 (users would need to buy the USD 500 PS5 and the VR headset at USD 550), and a lack of attention-grabbing launch titles.
