Smartkas partners with BerryWorld to grow strawberries in the UK

Partnerships

  • Dutch agritech startup and operator of smart farms, Smartkas, partnered with UK-based soft fruit company BerryWorld, to provide a year-round supply of award-winning Eve’s delight variety of strawberries.

  • The strawberries will be grown in a vertical smart farm in Harlow, Essex, UK, featuring 12 layers over a 27,000 sq meter space. Further, this facility is equipped with AI capable of controlling all aspects of the growing cycle, uses renewable energy sources, and is situated close to retail distribution centers.

  • Founded in 2019, Smartkas is a Dutch agritech startup that designs, builds, and operates its smart farms to provide food security as a service. The company’s farms are claimed to be fully autonomous and unmanned with the assistance of AI-based drones and robotics and can be deployed and installed anywhere.
