Meta is reportedly expanding access on its VR social platform, Horizon Worlds (currently limited to users above the age of 18) to teenagers aged between 13–17 by March 2023.
According to an internal memo, the company is facing challenges with its weak weekly retention rate and is seeking to launch at least 20 new Horizon-hosted experiences built by second-party studios. The flat-screen version of Horizon for mobile and desktops is also set to launch in the first half of 2023.
On the other hand, the company's Reality Labs XR division has significantly increased its operating budget to maintain its market dominance over similar metaverse initiatives from Apple and Google, although some XR projects, including its Echo VR, are set to be discontinued.
