Holographic display manufacturer Light Field Labs raises USD 50 million in Series B funding

Funding

  • Holographic display manufacturer, Light Field Labs, raised USD 50 million in a Series B financing round led by game developer NCSOFT with participation from Corning, Gates Frontier, and LG Tech Ventures, among others.

  • The funding is set to be utilized to drive productization of the company’s holographic display platform, Solid Light.

  • Light Field Lab offers a technology roadmap that aims to merge the real and virtual worlds through its SolidLight holographic displays. The hardware features self-emissive, bezel-less panels that assemble into modular holographic video walls, allowing real digital objects to form in mid-air without the need for headgear. The company has also unveiled “Defy” experiences, which allow users to interact with SolidLight holograms in a full-sensory immersive experience.

  • Analyst QuickTake: The funding round signals renewed investor interest in the holographic displays segment and follows Accenture’s investment into hologram company, Looking Glass Factory, in February 2023 . This trend of increased activity in the space is further highlighted by the debut of Nextech AR’s “ ARitize Holograms ” in January 2023, allowing users to create, share, and view human holograms on a smartphone device.
