Zscaler, a cloud security startup, announced its intent to acquire Canonic Security, a SaaS application security startup, for an estimated several dozen million dollars. The transaction is expected to close in Q2 2023.
Founded in 2020, Canonic Security protects SaaS platforms, including Atlassian Suite, Microsoft 365, Salesforce, Google Workspace, and Slack against supply chain attacks, with application governance and enforcement capabilities.
The acquisition of Canonic Security will enable Zscaler to integrate supply chain security capabilities into its data protection services on its cloud security platform, Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange, and strengthen its cloud access security broker (CASB) and SaaS security posture management (SSPM) offerings. It will also enable its clients to continuously monitor SaaS security posture, discover and access third-party apps and extensions across the enterprise business application infrastructure, reduce their attack surface, and enforce access governance.
