Loop Industries chooses France to manufacture recycled PET plastics

Geographic expansion

  • Loop Industries, a company that recycles PET plastics and polyester fiber into recycled polyethylene terephthalate resin and polyester fiber, has chosen the Chemesis industrial platform in France for its new manufacturing facility. The facility, with a planned capacity of 70,000 metric tonnes annually, would produce 100% recycled polyethylene terephthalate plastic and polyester fiber while saving over 255,000 tonnes of CO2 annually.

  • Loop anticipates the construction to begin in 2025, with plant commissioning in 2027. The company believes that by leveraging low-value waste and utilizing Loop's depolymerization technology, the project will provide a sustainable solution to the global plastic waste challenge.

  • The company states that it chose Saint-Avold for its proximity to feedstock sources and extensive road and rail links in Europe, which facilitates the distribution of Loop PET resin across the continent.
