Million on Mars, a Web3-based game developer, raised USD 3.5 million in a seed funding round co-led by Great South Gate and Widus Partners, with participation from Solana Labs.
It plans to utilize the fresh capital to add more systems and virtual environments to its namesake game, Million on Mars.
Million on Mars is the first title developed by the company and is based on a play-and-own model. The game is a SciFi-crafting simulation about how the human race could colonize planet Mars. It was launched in November 2021 and can be played on the Wax and Solana blockchains.
The company reported that it has 14,000 daily active users, claiming to have reached profitability and positive cash flows from selling building packs and other NFTs.
Formed in 2020, Million on Mars is co-founded by Erik Bethke (former CEO and founder of Bee Cave Games) and Keri Waters (CEO and co-founder of Rainwater Tech).
