Oishii Farm, a vertical farming company that specializes in Japanese Omakase strawberries, has introduced a new type of strawberry: The Koyo Berry. Translated to “elated” in Japanese, Koyo Berry is a Japanese cultivar, traditionally grown just outside Tokyo during the winter months.
The company asserts that each tray of Koyo Berries is available throughout the year, free from genetically modified organisms (non-GMO), free from pesticides, and perfectly ripe. The Koyo Berry is known for its pleasant sweetness, balanced acidity, aromatic scent, and slightly firm consistency.
FreshDirect in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut sells The Koyo Berry priced at USD 15 per tray. Oishii Farm plans to expand its distribution to other regions, such as Los Angeles, later this year.
Furthermore, Oishii Farm is presently working on developing other varieties of flowering produce, such as tomatoes and melons.
