Rocket Lab reported an adjusted EPS loss of USD 0.08 (reported EPS of USD 0.01 in Q4 2021) in Q2 2022 missing consensus estimates of a loss of USD 0.06. Its revenue increased 88.4% YoY reaching USD 51.8 million, exceeding analyst estimates of USD 47.5 million. The company reached a new internal record of nine launches within a calendar year.
The company provided revenue guidance for Q1 2023 of USD 51–54 million, while adjusted EBITDA loss is expected to be between USD 28–30 million.
Space systems revenue for the period increased 191% YoY and contributed 77% of total Q4 revenue, while launch services revenue declined 13% YoY. The revenue growth was supported by both acquired product lines as well as the early ramp of the company’s Photon satellite programs.
Rocket Lab’s adjusted gross profit declined to USD 7.5 million from USD 10.0 million in Q4 2021, translating to a margin of 14.5%. The adjusted EBITDA was a loss of USD 14.5 million, down from a loss of USD 8.3 million in Q4 2021. On an annual basis, the adjusted EBITDA stood at negative USD 38.5 million in 2022 (from USD 43.8 million in 2021).
