Relativity Space, a California-based space travel and launch company, faced further issues with its Terran 1 rocket’s second attempt at a maiden launch, causing the firm to further postpone the launch.
After having pushed back its launch due to upper-level wind violations, Relativity Space called an abort on the launch at T-0, causing the rocket to cut off its nine first-stage Aeon engines, just as soon as it had started.
The launch time was further postponed toward the latter end of the launch window, and so, the company called off the launch without ignition. According to company sources, the rocket was in healthy condition, but no further information was provided regarding the thwarting of the launch.
Analyst QuickTake: This second attempt at a maiden launch comes within days after Relativity Space scrubbed Terran 1’s first launch attempt due to propellant issues. With its mostly 3D infrastructure, the Terran program has the ability to change the landscape of the space launch industry by providing low-cost solutions for launch vehicles; the program’s ability to take off has been so far deterred by its launch vehicle’s failure to launch.
