Fieldin, an Israeli startup providing sensor-based smart farming solutions, and Ouster, a developer of LiDAR sensors, have deployed retrofit autonomy kits for autonomous tractors, following the signing of their multi-year supply agreement.
Fieldin plans to deploy more than 100 autonomy retrofit kits on tractors equipped with an Ouster OS1 to major customers across the US in 2023. This deployment is claimed to be the largest of autonomous tractors in the industry so far. The kit offers a range of automation features, including auto-steering, autonomous spraying, and fully autonomous driver-out functionality. These features are expected to improve operational efficiency and significant cost reductions, such as up to 87% chemical savings for high-value crop growers.
Fieldin uses Ouster's OS1 sensors for vehicle localization, navigation, and object detection on farm machinery. The autonomous solutions, integrated with their Smart Farming Operations platform, would provide real-time data and dashboards for key farm decision-makers to improve precision and operations.
