Agilyx, a chemical recycling technology company, and INEOS Styrolution America, the global leader in styrenics, have announced the advancement of their 100-tons-per-day TruStyrenyx chemical recycling facility in Channahon, Illinois.
TruStyrenyx, a partnership between Agilyx and Technip Energies (a French engineering and technology company), offers a comprehensive solution for chemically recycling polystyrene into high-purity styrene monomer, suitable for producing new, food-grade plastic products or packaging. The companies have been working with INEOS Styrolution to design and engineer the chemical recycling facility, with completion expected in 2023.
This facility aims to increase polystyrene recycling rates in the greater Chicago area and across the US to provide their customers with recycled content for producing environmentally conscious products.
Analyst QuickTake: Agilyx and INEOS Styrolution have maintained a strong working relationship focusing on polystyrene recycling. Previously, Agilyx also established a closed-loop commercial-scale polystyrene-to-styrene oil recycling facility in Oregon with a recycling capacity of 10 tons per day to be used by Americas Styrenics (AmSty) and INEOS Styrolution.
