Recycle Track Systems (RTS), a trash pickup routing and transportation company, has acquired RecycleSmart Solutions, a Canadian clean technology solutions provider of waste and recycling programs. Post-acquisition, RecycleSmart will operate as Recycle Track Systems CA.

Through the acquisition, RTS will have access to RecycleSmart's Pello waste sensor technology. This IoT hardware and software platform is specifically designed to detect and measure waste bin contents with precision, identify contaminants, and monitor fill levels in any environment.

In addition, RTS will also secure a team of experienced industry veterans from RecycleSmart. Businesses across the US and Canada will now have access to a wider range of RTS's products and services, including advanced utilities.

Analyst QuickTake: RTS has been pursuing tech-focused acquisitions to improve its sustainability services, increase waste diversion, and provide combined technology solutions for its customers. Last month, the company acquired Cycle Technology to gain access to the latters’ reverse vending machine (RVM) technology. In January 2022, RTS also acquired Elytus Ltd, , which has a significant presence across all 50 states in the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico. In 2020, the company acquired Industrial Organic PBC (Ambrosia) and Enevo to strengthen its waste management solutions business.
