Hardee Fresh, a Florida-based indoor vertical farm offering organic leafy greens, has secured a USD 56 million loan from X-Caliber Rural Capital, an affiliate of X-Caliber Holdings and a US Department of Agriculture (USDA)-licensed lender, for a vertical farming facility in Americus, Georgia.
Hardee Fresh's new vertical farm, which will cover 340,000 sq ft, is expected to use only 1% of the water required for traditional outdoor operations while producing over 15 million heads of lettuce annually with the help of more than 50,000 internet-connected devices. The construction is expected to be completed by late 2024.
Founded in 2017, Hardee Fresh is a hydroponic vertical farming company producing organic leafy greens. Hardee Fresh produce is said to be pesticide- and herbicide-free and USDA-certified organic. The company operates its organic vertical farm in Wauchula, Florida. The company claims to harvest 500 acres worth of produce with just one acre of land, farming vertically 365 days a year.
