US-based telehealth unicorn, Truepill, has sold off its UK-based operations to UK-based virtual pharmacy provider Phlo for an undisclosed sum. Phlo recently raised GBP 10 million (USD 12.5 million) and did not disclose the specific reason for the acquisition.
Phlo notes it was just one of the bidders for Truepill’s UK-based operations, having been chosen due to potential synergies in technology, patient care, and its pharmacy services. The acquisition will help the company scale and secure additional partnerships across the UK.
The acquisition includes Truepill’s UK-based partnerships with virtual healthcare providers and the company’s technology stack, including Truepill’s full set of prescribing technology and APIs.
UK-based Phlo operates a virtual pharmacy covering the cities of Birmingham and London, with plans to expand into Manchester during 2023. The company is also planning to offer digital pharmacy infrastructure to third parties as a B2B2C offering. The company has secured partnerships with entities such as the NHS, Babylon, SkinDoc, Syrona Health, and The Dermatology Partnership.
