Mirrorscape partners with Qualcomm for Snapdragon Spaces integration

Partnerships

  • Augmented reality (AR) board game creator Mirrorscape announced its partnership with Qualcomm to integrate its ARcana gaming platform with AR glasses.

  • The ARcana platform, created with the use of Qualcomm Technologies' AR2 smart glass system, is set to be integrated with Qualcomm's Snapdragon Spaces XR Developer Platform. The collaboration allows gamers to overlay full-scale board games on tables and manipulate game pieces with hand-tracking technology. Further, AR glass wearers will be able to automatically detect tabletop surfaces, providing a more interactive 3D experience.

  • Mirrorscape is an AR game development company focusing on the creation of tabletop roleplaying platform ARcana. The platform, accessible on a smartphone and tablet, enables users to project a 3D representation of a game board including terrain, buildings, characters, monsters, and landmarks onto any flat surface. The app is set to launch in the spring of 2023 and will be available on XR operating systems, Android, and iOS devices.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Mirrorscape's development of ARcana is unique in the AR space, with the company supplementing its product offering by announcing partnerships with prominent Dungeons & Dragons companies in March 2023 . Currently, users are limited to the field of view (FOV) displayed on their smartphones or tablets. However, the integration of the platform with AR glasses will result in a larger FOV, offering a more interactive experience.
