Fischer Farms, a UK-based vertical farming company, has partnered with Greene King, a large pub retailer and brewer, to provide sustainable, locally grown food.
Starting this month, fresh basil grown through vertical farming will be available on menus at 1,600 Greene King-managed pubs, eliminating the need for imported herbs and reducing air freight and food miles.
The partnership with Fischer Farms aligns with Greene King's commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50% (direct and indirect) by 2030 through the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi) and achieving net-zero emissions by 2040.
