PopID, a biometric payment terminal and authentication software provider, has expanded its offering by including palm-based user authentication in partnership with PalmID. This enables end customers to use either facial or palm recognition to make payments and sign into loyalty programs.
Pho Banh Mi Che Cali, a restaurant chain in Los Angeles, is the first retailer to accept both facial- and palm-based user verification through PopID, which has been fully integrated into its self-ordering kiosks and POS systems.
Analyst QuickTake: PopID becomes the only company in our coverage to offer palm and facial recognition-based user authentication while also providing merchants the option of using PopID’s own authentication terminals or integrating PopID software with their own terminals. PeasyPay also accommodates both facial- and palm-based user authentication; however, unlike PopID, PeasyPay uses both as two-factor authentication and does not let the user choose just one. Moreover, PopID is likely to face competition from other palm-based biometric authentication terminals and software providers, such as Biyo and Keyo .
