Zwipe, a company offering biometric payment card inlays, has partnered with Civix, a provider of software and service solutions to the public sector, and National Safe Skies Alliance, a non-profit organization, to conduct a biometric technology Proof-of-Concept (POC) initiative at Richmond International Airport (RIC).
Civix will utilize Zwipe’s technology to power its biometric smart cards, “Civix ASC Access Cards,” for access control. The cards use built-in fingerprint sensors and are fully compatible with NFC card readers, allowing two-factor authentication without the need for hardware upgrades. The cards are also contactless and suitable for high-traffic facilities such as airports.
The National Safe Skies Alliance is conducting testing as part of its Airport Security System Integrated Support Testing (ASSIST) program, which aims to provide airports with scalable, secure, user-friendly, and cost-effective access control solutions.
