Private AI, a Canada-based privacy startup, announced the launch of “PrivateGPT,” an AI solution that prevents the submission of sensitive information in user queries to large language model (LLM) chatbots, including OpenAI’s ChatGPT. The model will allow organizations to remain compliant with privacy regulations, including GDPR and HIPAA.
PrivateGPT serves as a privacy layer between the user and chatbot, and operates entirely within an organization’s own environment, not requiring PII to be shared with a third party. Private AI claims the solution can redact over 50 types of personally identifiable information (PII) in ChatGPT queries, replacing the data with placeholder information.
