Nikola Motor Company (Nikola), a developer of battery electric (BEV) and hydrogen fuel-cell electric (FCEV) heavy-duty trucks, via its hydrogen brand HYLA, has entered a definitive strategic partnership with Voltera, an EV-charging infrastructure provider, to develop hydrogen fueling infrastructure.
Through this strategic partnership, Nikola and Voltera will deploy up to 50 HYLA stations throughout North America over the next five years. This agreement supports Nikola’s previously announced plans to deploy 60 stations by 2026. This joint offering allows the two companies to create North America’s largest hydrogen refueling network.
Analyst QuickTake: During the same month, Nikola received a purchase order for 50 Nikola Tre FCEVs from AJR Trucking , a freight transportation provider via Tom’s Truck Centers, a member of Nikola’s sales and service dealer network. Deliveries are planned for late 2023 (Q4 2023) and early 2024 (Q1 2024).
