Barkibu raises USD 5 million in funding

Funding

  • Barkibu, a Spanish pet health insurance and preventive care provider, raised USD 5 million in a new funding round led by Kfund with participation from Mundi Ventures.

  • It aims to use the fresh funds to improve and expand its services.

  • Formed in 2015, Barkibu operates in Spain and Germany and offers insurance pet policies covering 80% of costs associated with pet illness and accidents and 100% of costs associated with prevention. It offers its services through a mobile app, which includes telehealth services as well as an AI-based veterinary service that provides consultations.

  • The company currently serves around 20,000 pet parents and claims that its monthly sales have increased at an average of 20%, with growth mostly organic and user-led.
