Cinis Fertilizer, a Swedish company that converts industrial waste into sulfate of potash (SOP) fertilizer, has received an environmental permit from the Swedish Land and Environment Court in Umeå for the production of mineral fertilizer in the municipality of Köpmanholmen, Örnsköldsvik.
Cinis Fertilizer completed the groundwork for its first production plant in Köpmanholmen during Q1 2023, and deliveries of process equipment are expected to begin during the summer. The company has also reported that it will start production of fossil-free fertilizer as early as the beginning of next year.
Analyst QuickTake: Cinis Fertilizer is yet to commercialize its products, but has received the environmental permit after obtaining permission to start construction of its production facility in Örnsköldsvik earlier this year. The company has also secured the building permit for another production facility in Skellefteå that will produce 200,000 tons of fossil-free and circular potassium sulfate by 2025.
