Niantic announced the launch of its free-to-play AR pet simulator game for iOS and Android devices, alongside a partnership with Amazon to host a storefront of Peridot merchandise in the app. 

In Peridot, players can feed, play with, and walk their virtual creatures to collect XP points. The game's "Perigenetics" system generates 100% unique DNA for each creature, giving players a vast range of breeding options for virtual pets. To breed new Peridots, players would need to purchase a nest basket for USD 5. Peridot's AR features and social breeding aspect enable players to create their own distinct Peridot companions and interact with other players worldwide.

Analyst QuickTake: Niantic is seeking to replicate the widespread success of Pokemon Go through the launch of its geo-location AR basketball game, NBA All-World, in January 2023 , alongside plans to launch its Monster Hunter AR game in partnership with Capcom, scheduled for debut in September 2023 . Additionally, the company partnered with Qualcomm in November 2022 to leverage their Snapdragon Spaces XR platform for geotagged AR content and supporting hardware.
