Meta announced the discontinuation of its virtual event creation tool feature on Horizon Worlds as part of its v109 update, citing that it did not meet the company’s quality standards.
The company is positioning the change as part of its efforts to improve the overall quality of the platform, albeit certain creators on the platform hoped the feature would someday see improvements. Other features part of the update include improvements to sorting items on the platform's asset library, streamlining party invites, and bug fixes.
Analyst QuickTake: The news follows Meta opening up Horizon Worlds to teens in the US and Canada in April 2023 in a bid to attract more users on its platform and the shutdown of its gaming metaverse, Crayta, in March 2023 , given lackluster user growth.
