Nordic Harvest plans a new 35,000 sq m farm in Denmark

Geographic expansion

  • Nordic Harvest, a Denmark-based vertical farming company, plans to build a 35,000 sq m production facility to grow lettuce, herbs, and kale initially, with plans to expand to various kinds of peas. The company has already secured the land by purchasing the adjacent building.

  • The new facility will have the capacity to produce around 1,000 tons of greens annually. The company also plans to expand its supply to Salling Group's stores, the largest retailer in Denmark.

  • Nordic Harvest has based its decision to build the new production facility on the learnings from the development of its proof of concept farm in Taastrup, Denmark. The company aims to capture a significant portion of the local market and sees potential in the German market since Denmark imports around two-thirds of its lettuce and kale from Germany, while the country itself imports around 80% of these products.
