BeeHero unveils Healthy Hive Score metrics to measure bee health

Product updates

  • BeeHero, an Israeli startup that provides farmers with precise pollination solutions using beehives and IoT, has introduced the Healthy Hive Score, an evaluation model that utilizes data from monitored colonies and academic research to assess colony health based on colony growth, brood health, and queen presence, normalized against weather conditions and flight hours.

  • BeeHero's first application of the Healthy Hive Score during the 2023 almond pollination season in California led the growers to produce around 270 million lbs of almonds per acre, all under bee-friendly conditions.

  • In addition to introducing its new product, the company has also reported a significant milestone, stating that the deployment of its IoT sensors saved around 250 million bees last year, with beekeepers using their technology reporting 33% fewer colony losses compared to the US national average.
