Ekobot, a Swedish company developing autonomous electric weeding robots that use AI and camera sensors to detect and mechanically remove weeds, has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with AllagBots Nordic, a distributor of agriculture field robots in the Nordic region, for the sale of Ekobot's robots in Denmark and Norway.
Analyst QuickTake: After having conducted a successful pilot demonstration, Ekobot is now looking for large-scale sales of its robots. As of November 2022, the company had carried out pilot demonstrations for its robots in Sweden and the Netherlands, demonstrating the ability to perform up to 1,000 strikes per hour, which resulted in the removal of 97% of the weeds with an accuracy of up to 99.5%. Following that, in August 2021, Ekobot also conducted a pilot project in partnership with Telia, the Research Institutes of Sweden, and Axis Communications to test the communication between the robot and mobile networks using 5G technology.
