Nreal announced that it has officially rebranded as Xreal, alongside announcing the launch of Xreal Beam and Spatial Display.
The name “Xreal” is a likely nod to XR, indicating its focus on the market. Xreal Beam, designed like an iPod, enables 3DoF support from any device, enables wireless connection, and will be available for pre-orders starting June 1, 2023. Additionally, Xreal introduced the Spatial Display, an improved version of its current display modes, which incorporates features like smooth follow and Sideview, where a smaller screen is positioned away from the center to enhance the awareness of the user's physical surroundings.
Analyst QuickTake: Xreal’s name change was prompted by a lawsuit initiated by Epic Games in May 2021 for infringing upon its Unreal Engine trademark. Additionally, the company launched its Nreal Air glasses in the US in September 2022 , with the introduction of Spatial Display features expected to benefit it.
