Noveon Magnetics (formerly Urban Mining Company), an Austin-based company recycling magnets from electronic waste via its proprietary Magnet-to-Magnetä recycling process, has raised USD 75 million in a Series B funding round led by NGP and Aventurine Partners.
The company plans to use the funds to expand its manufacturing facilities and aims to strengthen its position as a leading provider of essential rare earth magnets to sectors including automotive, defense, energy production, medical, and consumer goods.
James Wallis, a partner at Texas-based NGP, will also join Noveon’s board of directors.
Further, the company states its 145,000 sq ft San Marcos facility is commercially operational and on track to produce approximately 2,000 tons of magnets annually by 2024.
