Somnium Space, known for its social VR platform, has provided an update on its upcoming PC VR headset, the Somnium VR1.

The Somnium VR1 PC VR headset offers a wide field of view with dual-aspheric lenses, providing 125 degrees horizontally and 100 degrees vertically. It features high-resolution displays with a resolution of 2,880 x 2,880 pixels per eye, a brightness of 210 nits, and a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz. The headset supports optional eye tracking, high-quality passthrough using front cameras, and the attachment of a LIDAR sensor for 3D meshing. The weight of the headset ranges from ~700 g to 850 g, with its production facility in the Czech Republic currently undergoing checks.

Somnium Space is the developer of a blockchain-based social VR platform accessible through various devices. Users can purchase land, create objects, and engage in an in-world economy. The platform offers an SDK for avatar and property customization, a builder module for creating environments, and an NFT marketplace for trading game assets.
