Niantic Inc has announced updates to its developer tools, including the Augmented Reality Developer Kit 3.0 (ARDK) and extensions to 8th Wall.
ARDK 3.0 enables developers to create AR applications that blend computer graphics with the real world through mobile device cameras. With the Lightship ARDK 3.0, Unity developers can integrate Niantic's AR features into Unity's AR Foundation library, allowing capabilities like semantic segmentation, occlusion, and mapping. Additionally, Lightship Maps will be accessible for Unity, enabling developers to use Niantic's base maps for real-world connections in games. Furthermore, 8th Wall platform's metaversal deployment service enables web-based AR content to be experienced on mixed and extended reality headsets. This allows developers to deploy their content across various devices seamlessly.
