AVATAR MEDICAL, a MedTech patient visualization platform, has received FDA clearance for VR surgical planning solution.
The solution enables the generation of patient avatars from CT scans or MRI images to assist surgeons in preparing for procedures. The product works by creating VR patient avatars using proprietary technology to interpret CT scans or MRIs. These avatars serve as useful tools for surgeons, providing them with a clearer understanding of patient anatomy during pre-operative planning and, potentially, during actual procedures.
AVATAR MEDICAL, a French company, has provided its solutions to over 100 surgeons across 20 different institutions, including UMass, CUNY, and Columbia University. It has been used for various purposes such as case studies, student education, and patient engagement, resulting in six medical publications. The company aims to boost surgeons' capabilities and confidence during advanced percutaneous and endovascular interventions.
Analyst QuickTake: Other MedTech companies that received FDA clearance include Augmedics for its xvision Spine System in March 2023 and apoQlar for its MR software platform, VSI HoloMedicine, in December 2022 .
