Apple is reportedly developing a low-cost version of its Vision Pro headset, currently priced at USD 3,500.
The Vision Pro headset features dual Apple Silicon processors (M2 and R1), dual 4K micro-OLED displays, and a sensor array, essential for Apple's immersive spatial computing experience. The company is considering various cost-cutting measures, such as using an A-series iPhone processor, opting for lower-quality displays, and possibly modifying the sensor array. However, maintaining the user experience—particularly the eye- and hand-tracking controls integral to the Vision Pro's operating system—is a priority. The company is aiming to release a less expensive model of the Vision Pro by the end of 2025.
Analyst QuickTake : Apple intends to launch multiple " Apple Vision Pro Developer Labs ," where developers can collaborate with the headset prior to its official release in early 2024. These labs are scheduled to open during the summer in various cities such as London, Munich, Shanghai, Singapore, Tokyo, and Cupertino.
