MedTech company Medivis raised USD 20 million in a Series A funding round led by Thrive Capital, with participation from Initialized Capital, Mayo Clinic, and other investors including Bob Iger, Kevin Durant, and Dr. Robert Spetzler.
The funds raised will be used to scale the company's engineering efforts, obtain necessary regulatory clearances, and commercialize its technology globally across multiple specialties. These specialties include neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, interventional radiology, and reconstructive surgery.
Medivis offers SurgicalAR, an AI-backed platform for surgical imaging, and AnatomyX, an AR anatomy lab and learning platform. The platforms run on the Microsoft HoloLens 2, with the company having established partnerships with prominent medical centers nationwide, including an expanded collaboration with the Veterans Health Administration, the largest integrated health system in the US.
Analyst QuickTake: In February 2019 , Medivis raised USD 2.3 million in a seed funding round led by Initialized Capital and announced the launch of its SurgicalAR platform, which subsequently received FDA approval in May 2019 . Additionally, the company was included in Fortune’s 11 most promising health tech startups in October 2022.
