CubicFarm Systems, a provider of vertical farming technology solutions for growing fresh produce and livestock feed, has successfully completed the commissioning of its automated, controlled-environment growing technology at Vertical Acres Farm, an Indiana-based produce company.
Vertical Acres purchased 20 CubicFarms machines and one fertigator for CAD 3.8 million (~USD 2.9 million). Using CubicFarm's patented technology, Vertical Acres expects to initially grow and harvest a variety of lettuce and microgreen crops, with each module capable of growing over 100,000 heads of lettuce and 12,500 lbs of microgreens every year.
Analyst QuickTake: CubicFarm Systems and Vertical Acres previously established a purchase agreement in November 2020 to purchase 17 cultivators, three propagators, and one fertigator. As of May 2022, CubicFarm Systems had 204 CubicFarm Systems modules pending manufacturing and installation valued at USD 27.6 million, and had secured sales commitments worth CAD 23 million (~USD 17.9 million) for over 100 modules in 2022.
