Meshcapade, a German company specializing in creating synthetic 3D digital humans, raised USD 6 million in a seed funding round led by Matrix, with participation from a number of tech founders and investors such as Nate Mitchell (co-founder of Oculus) and William O'Farrell (co-founder of BodyLabs). Moreover, Diana Kimball Berlin of Matrix will join Meshcapade's board.
The company aims to utilize the fresh funds to accelerate the development of its 3D digital human foundation models for every industry.
Founded in 2018, Meshcapade offers a platform for creating, animating, sharing, and utilizing realistic 3D digital humans in various applications, including research, apparel, biomechanics, virtual reality, and training data for deep learning models. Its patented SMPL body model technology is the industry standard for creating 3D human technology, which is capable of converting any data source into a 3D avatar. The company has worked with over 100 customers including six of the top 10 Nasdaq companies.
