Informatica, an enterprise data management company, has announced its intent to acquire UK-based data privacy platform Privitar. The deal is expected to close in Q3 of this year subject to closing conditions; the financial terms were not disclosed. At the time of its latest funding round (2020), Privitar was valued at USD 400 million.
Founded in 2014, Privitar builds data access controls and policy governance solutions enabling businesses to securely share and leverage sensitive data for business use while minimizing privacy breach risk and maintaining compliance with regulations such as GDPR or CCPA. Privitar also offers data de-identification for analytics and AI training, and embedded data watermarks for distribution tracking.
Informatica plans to eventually integrate Privitar’s offering into its AI-powered enterprise data platform: Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC), though it will remain as a standalone product for now. Privitar will support high-growth applications in analytics, governance, data mesh, and data marketplace, integrating with IDMC’s CLAIRE AI engine to automate data privacy and access management.
