CleanHub, a Berlin-based waste track and traceability company, has secured USD 7 million in a funding round led by Lakestar and Integra Partners, with participation from Silence VC, 468 Capital, Ubermorgen Ventures, Dan Bartus, and Stefan Gross-Selbeck.
The company intends to use the funds to contribute to changes in the waste management industry and the development of a circular economy of plastic.
The company also announced the appointment of Louis Pfitzner, a veteran founder and co-founder of Salonmeister (a SaaS-enabled marketplace for hair and beauty appointments) and Caya (a document management software company) as its co-CEO, effective immediately.
Founded in 2020, CleanHub has developed a track-and-trace system that weighs, photographs, and monitors each waste bag using AI and manual controls to ensure the efficient collection, processing, and reintroduction of plastic waste. The company also partners with brands that help fund the collection of plastic waste in coastal regions in Asia and Africa. The company aims to prevent 50% of new plastic waste from entering the oceans by 2030 and promote the circular economy for plastic.
