Tomorrow.io, a short-term AI/ML weather analytics startup, has raised USD 87 million, closing a Series E funding round led by Activate Capital. This brings the company's total funding to USD 270.9 million.
The round proceeds will be utilized to launch a combination of the company’s radars and microwave sounders over the next 18–24 months for the complete constellation of more than 20 satellites. New investors, including RTX Ventures, Seraphim, and Chemonics, participated alongside existing investors SquarePeg Capital, Canaan, ClearVision, JetBlue Ventures, and Pitango Growth.
Analyst QuickTake : Following the funding news, the company has also announced the launch of its R2 satellite from Vandenberg Air Force Base. This launch followed Tomorrow-R1, the world's first commercially built weather-radar satellite, carrying a Ka-band weather radar launch in April 2023 . The company’s R1 and R2 satellites were the first non-NASA precipitation radar birds to observe regional precipitation much more frequently than legacy weather satellites.
