Fortanix launches search function for regulated encrypted data

  • Fortanix, a provider of cryptographic solutions for data security, announced the launch of a new search solution for encrypted databases, offering large-scale search functionality while maintaining data privacy and compliance with regulations like GDPR.

  • The new solution leverages secure enclaves, replicating encrypted or tokenized databases in secure environments to avoid exposure of sensitive data throughout the search or sorting process, with granular role-based access controls. Fortanix says its confidential data search is an industry-first, claiming it requires much less computing power compared to existing solutions—which generally rely on complex and slow homomorphic encryption techniques.
