Fortanix, a provider of cryptographic solutions for data security, announced the launch of a new search solution for encrypted databases, offering large-scale search functionality while maintaining data privacy and compliance with regulations like GDPR.

The new solution leverages secure enclaves, replicating encrypted or tokenized databases in secure environments to avoid exposure of sensitive data throughout the search or sorting process, with granular role-based access controls. Fortanix says its confidential data search is an industry-first, claiming it requires much less computing power compared to existing solutions—which generally rely on complex and slow homomorphic encryption techniques.
