Maza, a neobank focusing on serving the immigrant community, raised USD 8 million in a seed funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from SV Angel, Box Group, Restive Ventures, Global Founders Capital, Abstract Ventures, and other angel investors.
Formed in 2022, Maza enables immigrants to open a US bank account and obtain a tax identification number using their passport, without requiring a social security number. Customers can utilize the account for everyday banking to access credit, receiving payments from employers, as well as filing taxes. Maza provides its banking services in partnership with Blue Ridge Bank and has amassed 50,000 active members to date, processing USD 41 million in digital payments.
