SABIC Plastic Energy Advanced Recycling (SPEAR), a joint venture between Plastic Energy, a UK-based plastics recycling solutions company, and SABIC, a Saudi Arabian chemicals company, has partnered with Siemer, a residual and recyclable waste collection company, and Landbell, a German waste management company, to sort and pre-treat mixed and used post-consumer plastics.
Landbell AG will supply plastic waste to Siemer's newly built sorting facility in Vechta, Germany, which will be processed at the advanced facility in Geleen, the Netherlands, and converted into TACOIL using Plastic Energy's advanced recycling technology. The TACOIL will then be treated at SABIC's hydrotreater plant and used as an alternative feedstock to produce SABIC's certified circular polymers as part of its TRUCIRCLE portfolio.
Analyst QuickTake: Plastic Energy and SABIC commenced the construction of their advanced recycling facility in early 2021 under a 50:50 joint venture called “ SPEAR .” The partnership with Siemer and Landbell will be a significant step forward for the facility, as it is in its final stages of construction with expectations to receive upto 20,000 tons of plastic per annum.
