Microsoft has entered the secure service edge (SSE) market, announcing two new security services as part of its Entra network access suite.
The tech giant introduced two new solutions: 1) Microsoft Entra Internet Access, a secure web gateway (SWG) protecting access to the internet, SaaS, and other resources, and 2) Microsoft Entra Private Access, a zero-trust network access (ZTNA) product that secures access to private applications across hybrid- and multi-cloud, databases, and private networks. Both offerings are available in public preview.
Microsoft’s existing Defender for Cloud Apps cloud access security broker (CASB) solution completes the SSE offering.
Microsoft also announced unified naming for products under the Entra suite—with Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) being renamed Microsoft Entra ID. It also announced several new features and developments, including the integration of machine learning (ML) for proactive identity security and automated access governance.
