Ubisoft has partnered with haptic technology company OWO to create a haptic feedback vest for the company's Assassin's Creed Mirage game. The vest will allow players to physically feel the actions of the game's protagonist, Basim, as he navigates through ninth-century Baghdad.
The haptic feedback vest, part of the OWO Haptic Gaming System, includes the patented OWO Skin, 20 gel pads, an “OWO device,” a game code, a charging cable, and a storage pouch. The system is compatible with PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game. The vest is made of lightweight lycra with high-conductivity electrodes and haptic pads, allowing the wearer to feel a variety of sensations across the torso and arms. It is wireless and expected to have a battery life of around eight hours. The vest will enable players to feel impacts and precise parkour movements made by the game's protagonist.
Analyst QuickTake: The partnership allows OWO to integrate its solutions to the popular Assassin’s Creed franchise, following video game software company Overwolf in October 2022 to integrate haptic technology in Fortnite and League of Legends. Although the explicit price of the haptic vest remained undisclosed, it is likely to be similar to that of the OWO Founder’s Edition kit priced at EUR 499 (~USD 560), excluding the cost of the game purchase.
