Thirdweb, a dApp development platform, has acquired Paper, an embedded wallet creator, for an undisclosed amount. Following the acquisition, Paper will continue to operate independently; however, its technology will be fully integrated into Thirdweb's platform. In addition, Paper's founders will join Thirdweb in key senior roles.
Thirdweb's developer platform will now integrate Paper's wallet and checkout solutions, offering users a full stack for developing Web3 applications.
Paper's wallet solution enables companies to create wallets for their users using an email address, phone number, or social login. These wallets can also be customized with features such as wallet recovery, gasless transactions, and non-custodial functionality.
The checkout solutions provided by Paper allow companies to accept credit cards (with support for Apple Pay, Google Pay, iDEAL), as well as cross-chain crypto (with built-in bridging & swapping). The solution is fully compliant with built-in fraud and anti-money laundering detection. It is available for use in more than 190 countries, supporting over 10 currencies and languages.
Formed in 2022, Paper has onboarded over 500,000 people onto Web3 using its solutions and has processed over USD 10 million in transactions. The company reports to have worked with Web3-native startups, renowned brands, and Fortune 500 companies.
