ICON, a construction company that utilizes advanced 3D printing technology, announced the completion of the first 3D-printed model house in Texas.
This is part of a 100-home community in Georgetown's Wolf Ranch, employing its Vulcan robot 3D printer. The printer utilizes G-code, a digitized blueprint, to create the houses using a specialized mix known as Lavacrete. The 3D printer employed by ICON constructs the houses by layering tube after tube of a cement mixture, forming the frame and rooms in the house, allowing a house to be completed within a week.
ICON has partnered with the homebuilder Lennar to construct and market eight-floor plans featuring 24 elevations. All homes in the community will be equipped with rooftop solar panels for sustainable energy. A fully furnished model is currently available for viewing.
ICON is a construction technology company that specializes in additive manufacturing, particularly in the field of 3D printing. The company utilizes large-scale 3D printers to create various structures, including homes, using advanced materials.
